Orange Team (Walk-to-Run)

The Orange group will loosely follow the principals of the Jeff Galloway training, where we use frequent and consistent walk breaks to increase our stamina and prevent injury. This way of running seems to make everyone feel energized afterwards as we use our legs to the fullest, with our running muscles part time and our walking muscles the other. By adding in the walking, we allow our running muscles a break, lower our heart rate and then start out strong on our next run cycle.

We will break the 25 week training into 3 phases: Phase 1 will increase running while keeping walk breaks consistent; Phase 2 will decrease walking while keeping running intervals consistent; Phase 3 will build endurance of our final pace for high mileage.

We will gradually increase the intervals about every other week and plateau at our goal before our peak mileage weeks. We always start each week with a 5 min warm up walk before our intervals and end in a run to home base/finish line!

The Orange Team will support both Full and Half Marathon events with a number of qualified coaches. Members will be assigned to a Group based on their level of fitness.
